Our dogs are rescues in every sense of the word. Most are strays, rescued from the streets or pulled from the local high-kill shelter. Many of of them have had a very, very long road to recovery and to wellness. In our region, the animal welfare situation is absolutely dire. Although we work as hard as we possibly can to save as many dogs as we can, the reality is that nearly 8,000 animals are euthanized each year in our parish alone. If you adopt one of our dogs, you will not only gain a wonderful new family member- you will allow us the space to save another life.
All dogs listed on our site are, or will be, available for adoption. We can deliver dogs anywhere in the continental United States or Southern Canada! Before being listed for adoption, every AHOD dog is fully vetted. This includes being spayed or neutered, current vaccinations, and microchipping. All are current on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. Not to mention having awesome personalities and being totally ready for their forever homes!
